Alma Rose Miller

Alma Rosa Miller (Hernandez) 56, born July 28, 1969 in Los Angeles, California, wife of Vernon F. Miller, Jr., died September 6, 2025. Alma was a pillar of love and an extraordinarily devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend who will be deeply missed. The joy of Alma’s life was her family. Alma found joy in every aspect of her children’s lives, especially, their school activities and was the perfect “sports” Mom. Never missing a football, basketball, volleyball, softball, and track and field game. She volunteered and worked with the school’s committee raising funds for the athletic programs. Alma was the first to lend a helping hand, her warmth and generosity touching countless lives. Alma worked specializing in adult learning with the Berkeley Reads Adult and Family Literacy Program. She traveled to Washington D.C. to passionately advocate for its continued support addressing Congress. She selflessly worked and cared for children with special needs. She volunteered at the food banks and food shelters handing out food during the height of Covid. Recently, Alma organized the donation of one hundred books to cancer surviving kids at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, which was a testament to her enduring compassion. Alma was a gift from God with a generous and joyful spirit and has left a legacy of love with her family and friends. Alma’s presence brought love, light and laughter in every room. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Among her survivors are her six siblings; Ruben Hernandez (Paula), Teresa Hernandez, Nazario Hernandez, Jesus Hernandez (Adriana), Adela Hernandez, and Lilia H. Jackson (Raymond). Alma’s surviving children include Vernon Anthony Miller (Jill), Valorie Amber Miller (Phillip), Christopher Joseph Miller (Hannah), and Alicia Crystal Miller. Alma’s beloved surviving grandchildren include Sabina Jane Telles, Liliana Mera Telles, Phillip Blas Gonzales, II, Esmeralda Christine Gonzales, and Josephine Rose Miller. Alma was preceded in death by her father Ignacio Berumen Hernandez, her mother Alma Alicia V. Hernandez, and sisters Margarita Hernandez and Maria Bertha Hernandez. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. 7 The one who overcomes will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
