James Gilmore

James "Jim" Edward Gilmore was born on October 13, 1938 in Jackson, Tennessee to Jimmie and Mozelle Gilmore. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great- grandfather, family member, friend, and proud veteran whose life was marked by service, integrity, and the many lives that he touched. Jim honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years, traveling the world as an Aircraft Armament Systems Technician. His service included assignments in England: Spain (Zaragoza Air Base): Morocco (en Guerir Airbase): California (Travis Air Force Base and Edwards Air Force Base):Nevada (Nellis Air Force Base): and North Dakota (Grand Forks Air Force Base), among others. One of the highlights of his distinguished career was working on the F-16 Fighter Jet, a source of great pride that reflected his technical skills and dedication to excellence. After retiring from the Air Force, Jim continued his professional journey in acrospace, working for Bocing Aerospace and later Rockwell International, where he proudly contributed to the Space Shuttle Atlantis program. Beyond his professional accomplishments. Jim had a joyful spirit and a deep love for life. "He loved spending time with family and friends, karaoke, bowling, cooking. dancing, and simply having fun. Je was also a proud member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fraternity Order of Eagles in Suisun City, where he served as President for a few ycars. His laughter, warmth, and ability to bring people together will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Jim was called home on December 13, 2025 at the age of 87. Leaving to cherish his memories are his loving daughters, Cheryl (Marvin) "Holloway, Donna Gilmore, and Kim Patterson; his grandchildren, Denise (Aaron), La Toyia, DeVonna, DeVaunté, Isaiah, ĐeVaughn, Jayda, Chastity, Martell, Alyssa and Zamir: 9 great- grandchildren; his sister, Betty LaGrand; brothers, Rodgers Gilmore, Lindsey Gilmore, and Richard Gilmore: along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other family, and many, many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his father. Jimmie R. Gilmore; mother, Mozelle Gilmore: sisters, Doris Bland, Sylvia Clacks-McClinton, and Barbara Ann Gilmore: brothers, Jimmie Gilmore and Harold Gilmore; former wife and the mother of his daughters, Marlene Bruce.
