December 10, 1936 - September 5, 2020
Our beloved “mom” Catherine Ralph-Morris was born December 10, 1936, in Georgetown, Guyana. She immigrated to the United States, at the age of twenty-nine, in November of 1966 and a mere five years later, after securing her permanent residency and working many odd jobs, saved enough money and returned to Guyana to also give her children an opportunity at a better life in the USA. Amid her many responsibilities raising four kids, as a single parent, Catherine even found time to attend Roxbury Community College and then transferred to Wheelock College where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Development. Catherine worked in many fields, including teaching, banking, retail, and nursing before unofficially retiring in 2005. Catherine loved cooking, caring for others, giving to others, and most of all spending time with her family and precious grandchildren. Catherine attended First Baptist Church of Vacaville under the leadership of Pastor LeRoy Gainey where she served dutifully and gratefully in various ministries including the choir and as the self-designated cook and mother of the church. Catherine is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Jean, Oswald Smith, Neville, and Maxton Ward. She is survived by her husband Neville Morris and her children: Maurice Anthony Ralph, Audrey Calder-Wood, Ingrid Forrester, and Jason Ralph. She leaves to cherish her memories of her daughters-in-law: Audlyn Ralph, Carla Ralph, Shelley (Khadijah) Barnes, and her son-in-law Larry Wood. Grandchildren: Alicia U. Ralph, Danielle A. Ralph, Shavanna Calder, Akeila Forrester, Chris Bogues, Alicia R. Ralph, Kahdeem A. Ralph, Faith Robertson and Hajr McLean-Ralph. Great-grandchildren Akeicia Ralph-Nedd, in addition to, Barah, Yunus, and Aminah Muhammad Fall, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends Acknowledgments The family of Mrs. Catherine Morris wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the outpouring of support and love, comforting words, endless messages of condolences, and most importantly your continued prayers as we simultaneously celebrate the life and loss of the matriarch of our family. May God keep you safe and richly bless you all. AT THIS TIME THE FAMILY HAS REQUESTED THAT NO FLOWERS BE SENT OR ORDERED ON BEHALF OF CATHERINE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
