Claude Sapigao Lobusta
August 8, 1947 - September 20, 2020
Claude Sapigao Lobusta—dedicated husband, beloved father and grandfather, and friends to all—unexpectedly passed away on September 20th, 2020 in Fairfield, California. Born August 8, 1947 in Asingan, Pangasinan, Philippines, son to Jose R. Lobusta and Jemima Sapigao and brother to Iluminada Santos, Evelyn Galang, Jose Lobusta Jr., Erlinda Jacinto, Bernardo Lobusta, Tessie Lobusta, Joeffre Lobusta. Claude was trained in the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City. He continued his education and earned his Bachelor of Arts from José Rizal University. He proudly served as an Officer in the Philippine National Police prior to moving his family from the Philippines to the United States. He became a Technical Engineer at Sea Tel Inc. for 17 years, touring overseas to places such as West Africa and Europe. He enjoyed his retirement by creating projects with his own hands, spending time with grandchildren, and traveling with his wife. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his eternal wife and hopelessly devoted companion of 51 years, Adelaida Baguiao Lobusta; his loving children Joyce Lobusta Laurora (Lito), Cherryl Lobusta Ting (Edzel), Hazel Lobusta Javier (Anthony), and Michael Baguiao Lobusta (Anna); and his thirteen adoring grandchildren. He will be remembered for his outrageously entertaining stories, dependable work ethic, his contagious smile and corny jokes, and willingness to help out anyone in need. In his later years, when respiratory issues deprived him of energy and strength, it also gave him a gentleness and sensitivity that we all treasured. During this challenging time, he taught us patience and allowed us to express a small measure of the service he had long showed to all of us. We are blessed to learn many valuable lessons from our dad during his 71 years, among them: “When driving, would you rather get there in one piece or in pieces? I’ll cross the bridge when I get there. Don’t make any promises, just do it. Keep your head up. Calm down, relax, and be happy. Whatever you do in life, do your best and reach for the very top and be the best you can.” We would like to express our thanks to all of those who provided comfort and care to our dad through the years. Until we meet again, strawberry fields forever.
