September 1, 1955 - April 26, 2021
Wanda Melanie Greene was a loyal, caring, fun-loving, and adventurous woman. She became unexpectedly ill and passed away due on April 26, 2021 at Casey House Hospice in Rockville, MD at age 65. Wanda was born on September 1, 1955 in Chicago, IL to Lillian Kathryn (Tyler) and George Allen Greene and was the youngest of 4 siblings, William C. Smith, Jr., Constance (Greene) Tompkins, and Forrest Greene. The family relocated to Philadelphia, PA where she graduated from Olney High School (Class of 1973). Following Graduation, Wanda married Raymond D. Roberts of Philadelphia, PA and had three beautiful daughters Crystal Roberts (Gaithersburg, MD), Tyrie Roberts (Gaithersburg, MD) and Amber Roberts (Philadelphia, PA). In 1983 she separated from her husband and relocated to Solano County, CA where she embraced the West Coast life and eventually began a 17-year career at Chevron. Wanda always had a thirst for knowledge and often worked full-time while attending school as she pursued her interests in business, law, justice and creative writing. Wanda also loved to travel, read, write, attend music concerts, cook, and spend time with friends and family. She loved to organize trips and gatherings for family and friends to the Caribbean, France, Hawaii, the Bahamas and all across the USA. In 2002, her grandson Malcolm Martin (Gaithersburg, MD) was born. She adored and cherished Malcolm and enjoyed cheering him on during track & field competitions, flute performances, and events to recognize academic achievement. During her 17 years at Chevron, Wanda also dedicated time to serving as a court appointed special advocate (CASA) for children, volunteering at a rape crisis center, wrote a weekly article for the local Daily Republic newspaper, helped people with event planning, resumes, content writing, coordinating food drives, and attending church. She always encouraged the people in her life to enjoy the present. It was not like her to worry about how to make her dreams come true. She chased them vigorously and knew the Lord would provide. She was always planning her next adventure. Wanda is survived by her siblings Constance Tompkins and Forrest Greene Sr., her daughters Crystal Dawn Roberts, Tyrie Katherine Roberts, and Amber Sherry Roberts, her grandson Malcolm Joseph Martin, her nieces Angela Chynna McCoy and Jennifer Marie Tompkins, and her nephew Forrest Greene Jr. In addition to her loving parents, Wanda is predeceased by her eldest brother, William Smith. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on May 7, 2021 at Fairfield Funeral Home located at 1750 Pennsylvania Ave, Fairfield, CA 94533. We encourage you to send flowers and/or make a donation to an organization advocating for victims of abuse and/or assault, prison and bail reform, diabetes, cancer, and/or stroke research and patient advocacy, a literary arts fund or scholarship, or food banks and homeless shelters, honor of Wanda.
