Anthony Lockwood

A graveside service for Tony Lockwood, 77, will be held Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, 1801 Union Ave., Fairfield, Calif. 94533. Tony passed away on Dec. 2, 2023. He was born in Fairfield on May 10, 1946, to Bud and Catherine Lockwood. He was one of nine children: Eight boys and one girl. Tony and his wife Karlene had many beautiful years together. They had four children. He is survived by daughter, Karlene Moore and husband Robert; his son, A.J. Lockwood and wife Denise; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brother, Catholic Bro. Joe Lockwood. Tony was predeceased by his wife, Karlene; son, Billy; daughter, Lily; and granddaughter, Emerald. Tony loved jazz music, camping, gold-panning, woodworking, and helping others. Tony graduated from Armijo High School in 1964. He enjoyed his woodworking classes and became a craftsman who could fix anything. His dedication inspired him to become secretary of the Industrial Arts club. After high school, Tony served in the Navy, worked in various jobs and owned several businesses. He worked at the Solano Irrigation District; he owned Straw Hat Pizza in Vacaville, later Tony’s Pizza; he then started A.J.’s Home Maintenance; and in 1984 he went to work at the Fairfield-Suisun School District in the Maintenance Division, from which he retired in 2011. He was active as a union leader with the California Schools Employee Association. Tony was a lifelong Catholic and dedicated much time serving his home parish, Holy Spirit, and Vacaville’s Saint Mary’s when he lived in that city. He was lead usher at Holy Spirit until health prevented his activity. He also gave time to Salesian parishes around the Bay Area, fixing statues, woodwork, furniture, or anything else that was needed. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose.
