Donald Coleman

Donald Gene Coleman was born February 11, 1958, in England, Arkansas to the late Susie “Bizzell” Coleman and L.C. Coleman Sr. Don accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Springfield Baptist Church (Bare Skinnd Lake) Seaton (Dump) Ark.,under the pastorship of Rev. Reins. Don attended public school in England, Arkansas and graduated high school in 1976. Don was adventurous and got the nickname “AxeMan” from dominating the field as a full back on his high school football team. Don was always a sharp dresser, winning Best Dressed in High School in 1976. After Don graduated High School, worked at Remington Arms and then joined the Navy. He loved to tell people that he “travelled the world twice and saw the same people three times!” He served on the USS Carl Vinson. Don made California his home and made it clear that’s where he wanted to live and die. Don worked as Parts Manager for AmPorts for over 10 years then with the support of his wife he obtained his commercial driver’s license and retired as a Transportation Supervisor at Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation at the Chevron Refinery in Richmond,Ca. Don also did part-time work as a Marshall at Paradise Valley Golf Course. He was always up for a good time and lots of laughs. He enjoyed going on cruises with his wife and loved all sports, was an avid golfer, loved shooting pool with the fellas and his wife, he bowled in several leagues and although a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, supported his wife “Raider Ang” at every Oakland Raiders home game, except one, for eight years. Don leaves to cherish his funny and loving memory, his wife Angie who cared for him until he took his last breath, Father L.C. Coleman Sr., daughters Amy (Vernon), Rebecca (Toby) and Reneeka (Justin), son Erik, Brothers’ James Long (Linda), James Coleman, Raymond Coleman(Beverly), Terry Coleman, Jerry Coleman, George Coleman, John Coleman(Brenda) and Sister, Vernita Coleman. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Kiera from California, Alexis from Arkansas and Archie and Alexis from Australia. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his mother in law; Lillie, Daughter in Law; Dawn and friends; Sam & Nicole who helped care for him and keep him encouraged during the that months of his struggle. He is preceded in death by his mother Susie, brothers’ L.C. Jr (Von), Bo Bo, Charles and Sammy. Children Bryan, Tasha and Monica. His funeral services will be held on Friday 19 May 2023 from 5pm-7pm at the Fairfield Funeral Home at 1750 Pennsylvania Avenue, Fairfield.
